The Government of the Republic of Kenya hosted the Eighth African Rift Geothermal (ARGeo-C8) Virtual Conference in partnership with UNEP, GDC, KenGen, GAK, AUC, and IGA-ARB. The ARGeo-C8 VIRTUAL conference was facilitated by UNEP in Nairobi and ran from 2nd to 6th November 2020 as originally planned, with the exception of the Field Trips. The Conference consisted of the following:
- 2-3 November 2020: The Short Courses
- 3 November 2020: Kenya Investment Forum
- 4-6 November 2020: The Main Conference

The ARGeo-C8 Conference provided an excellent opportunity for national, regional, and international exhibitors, including independent power producers, business fraternity, development partners, government institutions, manufacturers, and individuals, to showcase their technology and products/services. This conference offered a platform to establish relationships and raise exhibitors’ and sponsors’ company profiles in the region.
Four concurrent short courses were planned to take place prior to the main conference. These were:
- Low Temperature Geothermal Systems and Direct Use Application
- Geothermal Project Management and Financing
- Reservoir Modeling and Well Testing
- Geothermal Resource Decision Modules 1 and 2: Volcanic and Deep Circulation
