The Government of the Republic of Djibouti, through ODDEG, hosted the Ninth African Rift Geothermal Conference (ARGeo-C9) in partnership with UNEP, AUC, AGA, AWAG, ARGeo member countries, and other international partners involved in the geothermal sector, including MFA-Iceland, GRÓ GTP, and IGA. The conference was held at Djibouti Palace Kempinski Hotel in Djibouti from 1–6 November 2022. The conference consisted of:
1–2 November 2022: The Short Courses.
3–5 November 2022: The Main Conference.
6–7 November 2022: The Field Trip.

The ARGeo-C9 Conference provided an excellent opportunity for national, regional, and international exhibitors, including independent power producers, the business fraternity, development partners, government institutions, manufacturers, and individuals, to showcase their technology and products/services. This conference offered a platform to establish relationships and raise exhibitors’ or sponsors’ company profiles in the region.
Four concurrent short courses are planned to take place prior to the main conference. These are:
- Low Temperature Geothermal Systems and Direct Use application
- Geothermal Project Management and Financing
- Reservoir Modeling and Well Testing
- Geothermal Resource Decision Modules 1 and 2: Volcanic and Deep Circulation
